Education

This is a 9 month contract of 162 days with work with summers off.   This includes one week vacation for Thanksgiving and spring break and three weeks at winter break.  

This position specifically exist to provide classroom, laboratory, or related instruction under the supervision of the Department Chair and is responsible for planning and providing student instruction in accordance with approved syllabi, curriculum guidelines, and required program standards. Instructor must adhere to the laws, policies, procedures, rules, and applications which govern and affect the college, including the fiscal rules of the State of Colorado.

Job Duties

Essential Functions:

  • Teaches courses as assigned within faculty workload guidelines including evening and weekend courses. May be assigned to teach at outreach sites, in person or remote.
  • Maintains regularly scheduled office hours. Serves as faculty advisor for potential and current students.
  • Lab management including skill instructor scheduling and ensuring adequate equipment and supplies are available for classes.
  • Participates in outreach activities, Participates in local, regional and state EMS activities and committees as appropriate.
  • Assists the department chair with the following: coordinates the development and revision of curriculum and development of new course offerings and program expansion, curriculum review, course schedules, catalog revisions, graduation planning sheets, assists in establishing, implementing and analyzing assessment of student learning data and making program improvements as indicated.
  • Responsible for ensuring that state and national accreditation policies are followed and that the programs remain in good standing with all overseeing state and national EMS education agencies. Assists in self-studies and program reviews as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Paramedic Certification

Licenses or Certificates:

  • Active Colorado Certification as a Paramedic.
  • Current National Registry of EMTs certification.
  •  Eligible for Vocational Credentialing in Colorado

Experience:

  • Two years experience in providing advanced life support care in the pre-hospital environment.

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Current credentials in CPR and Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Demonstrated skill working with a diverse population
  • Ability to communicate clearly to multiple diverse groups to include administration, stakeholders, employees, and students.
