Promoting the welfare of our communities through integrity, compassion, education, and innovation.

Gilpin County is just West of the Denver Metro area. We provide 911 EMS service to the cities of Black Hawk and Central, as well as the residents and visitors of Gilpin County. The Gilpin Ambulance Authority staffs three, 24-hour, ALS ambulances. We have Type 1, Frazer Ambulances, carry LifePak 15 monitor/defibrillators, and use Stryker Power cots that minimize the need to lift patients. Documentation, scheduling, and personnel management are completed using ESO Suite. We strive to provide expedient and professional prehospital medical care, emphasizing evidence-based practices and customer service.

Gilpin Ambulance Authority is in the process of developing a Critical Care Paramedic level of care. We have an active Community Assistance Resource and Education Service (CARES) program and are developing a Community Paramedic Program.

In-person Continuing Education is provided by the department twice a month, and all employees have access to the EMS1 Academy online CE database for EMS.

All employees are eligible for annual merit raises based on regular employee evaluations.

Starting pay is dependent upon time spent working on an ambulance or other relevant experience as determined by the Chief.
