The agency runs Advanced Life Support ambulances and provides transport services to two Level III trauma centers in the valley. The communities of Snowmass Village, Basalt, El Jebel, Old Snowmass, and Thomasville all rely on RFFR for 24/7 emergency services.

RFFRA is currently recruiting to fill the following position:

One (1) full-time responder position and five (5) part-time responders.  Candidates must of the following positions:

Full or Part-Time Firefighter/EMT,

Under supervision, assists with fire suppression, hazardous material response, rescue operations, and Basic Life Support emergency medical services; operates appropriate Authority apparatus dependent on emergency response; participates in fire training, fire prevention, public education, and station and equipment maintenance activities.

 Full or Part-Time Firefighter/Paramedic

Under supervision, assists with fire suppression, hazardous material response, rescue operations, and Advanced Life Support emergency medical services; operates appropriate Authority apparatus dependent on emergency response; participates in fire training, fire prevention, public education, and station and equipment maintenance activities.

Full or Part-time Single Role Paramedic (requirement to obtain Firefighter I certification)

Under supervision, is responsible for emergency medical services delivery to the town of Snowmass Village, the Town of Basalt, and surrounding areas; this includes basic & advanced life support EMS.  Operates appropriate Authority apparatus dependent on emergency response, public education, and station and equipment maintenance activities.

 Work Schedule:                                 Minimum of 48 hours a month with a maximum of 120 hours a month, plus events and call-backs as available that fall into the allotted maximum time.

 Firefighter/EMT Minimum Qualifications:

The candidate must have the following minimum qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED
  2. Valid Colorado EMT or National Registry EMT certification or higher, obtained within two (2) months of hire
  3. Valid Colorado Driver’s License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment)
  4. Valid Colorado, or IFSAC, or Pro-Board Fire Fighter I
  5. Valid Colorado, or IFSAC, or Pro-Board Hazardous Materials Operations
  6. S-130/190, ICS 100, ICS 200, and ICS 700 within 12 months of hire.
  7. 21 years of age

Firefighter/Paramedic Minimum Qualifications:           

Must possess the following:

  1. High school diploma or GED
  2. Valid Colorado Paramedic or National Registry Paramedic certification or higher, obtained within two (2) months of hire
  3. Valid Colorado Driver’s License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment)
  4. Valid Colorado, or IFSAC, or Pro-Board Fire Fighter I
  5. Valid Colorado, or IFSAC, or Pro-Board Hazardous Materials Operations
  6. S-130/190, ICS 100, ICS 200 and ICS 700 within 12 months of hire.
  7. 21 years of age

 Single Role Paramedic Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess the following:

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. A valid State of Colorado driver's license (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment)
  3. Valid Colorado State Paramedic certification
  4. 21 years of age

Requirements within 12 months:

  1. Valid Colorado Fire Fighter I within 12 months of hire (will be required to attend Colorado Mountain College fire academy in the Spring 2026)
  2. Colorado Hazmat Operations Certification, or higher within 12 months of hire
  3. S-130/190, ICS 100, ICS 200, and ICS 700 within 12 months of hire

 Applicants with out-of-state certifications for the qualifications listed above must be able to obtain the required Colorado certifications within one year of hire.

The Authority reserves the right to send EMT certified members to a paramedic education program to obtain paramedic certification as a condition of full-time employment

The Fire Chief may establish an eligibility list of qualified candidates. Candidates who are placed on the eligibility list will be notified of such. Eligibility lists are valid for up to 6 months, however, the Fire Chief reserves the right to re-test and establish a new list at any time.  

**Preferential points will be given to candidates who already hold a Colorado or National Registry Paramedic certification.

 

 * Full Time Only Bonus Opportunity

Paramedic Only: Hiring Bonus of $1,000 will be offered at the start of employment.  

Paramedic Only: Bonus of $2,500 will be given upon successful completion of their Field Training Evaluation Program (FTEP)

Training and On-Boarding Support:  New members will be assigned to a Field Training Officer (FTO) for the first few months after hire.  The FTO will be a mentor and provide comprehensive guidance, development, and leadership on performing critical job skills while increasing engagement and productivity effectively.
